River Irwell Littleton Rd Clean Up Event April 2016

A great turnout this afternoon – and many thanks to our volunteers from Greater Manchester Police and Salford Inspiring Communities Together program.
After a wet morning – the weather bucked up and we managed to stay dry (but not clean) all afternoon.

Between us – we managed to clean nearly half a mile of river bank, collecting over 50 bags full of rubbish and other assorted river debris.

We have two more clean up events planned in the near future. Please come and join us – its great fun and we make a real difference to our river banks.
24th April – River Tame at Ashton U Lyne 10am start.
1st May – River Irwell at Drinkwater Park. 10am start.

Our clean ups will then finish for a summer break. This coming summer we will be undertaking some river restoration work, a river walkover/pollution recording project – and a Mersey Basin Water Blitz…… more info on all these events will be announced shortly

In the mean time – please take a look at photos of todays event below.

Well done to all involved.

Annoying that some people see the river bank as somewhere to tip, rather than as an amazing place where nature thrives
