Drinkwater Park Clean Up Event November 2016

Many thanks to the 17 volunteers who braved the rain and took part in our November clean up event at Drinkwater Park on the banks of the River Irwell.

Due to heavy rain, the river was too high and swollen with flood water to allow us to complete a safe river side clean up, so we concentrated our efforts around the 5 local lakes, Kingfisher, Waterdale, The Stock Ponds, and Drinkwater Park Lake

The combined efforts from volunteers and staff from the Forestry Commission saw us collect 44 bin bags of rubbish, traffic cones, 1 bicycle, 4 tyres, a golf trolley, 6 deck chairs plus other assorted dumped rubbish

Despite the inclement weather – everyone had a great time, plenty of hot tea and biscuits plus hard work kept us all warm and we went home with a sense of satisfaction of a job well done…
